Along the south slopes of Mount Kenya the Rutuma cooperative are growing their coffee. In the mineral rich volcanic soil the SL28 and SL34 varietal cherries are slowly ripening at 1800 meters above sea level. They’re getting shade from sturdy macadamia trees to further improve the maturation process. These factors, in addition to the hard work and care of the some 800 producers that are a part of the Rutuma cooperative, are what gives this coffee it’s delicious character.
